  1. But can you? The question is whether you're willing to spend the time and effort searching for someone who will sell you one for that much metal, when you can just sit on the bot and wait for it to have one at a pittance more. Some people are willing to go to a large effort for the sake of a small (in this case, £0.03 or so) saving, whereas others aren't. We offer the latter the ability to pay a little more to get what they want in a simpler manner, and those who are willing to spend longer looking get to save a penny or two. Everyone's happy!
  2. Granted, but you have to do today's work as well as tomorrow's tomorrow. I wish for a turnip.
  3. Granted, but it refuses to get out of bed so you never see it. I wish for Bouldrick.
  4. Hotheaded. (You must have figured it out by now).
  5. You can fly without training in flight. Trust me. Admittedly it takes less training in flight to fly than it takes training in anything else, and my method of Chaos magic is not only difficult but unweildy and extremely dangerous, but still - I'm not trained to fly and can do it.
  6. Granted, but the wish granted can only be granted by finding its physical form in a haystack. It takes the form of a needle. I wish for a car.
  7. You're banned for not understanding (or understanding but not applying correctly) homophones.
  8. You get a flat Coca Cola, cooled to perfection with Refreshers dropped in it. I wish for a tool that perfectly forecasts the weather in any specified city. (That's not a corruption of my wish, since it's hostile (kills a civillian and special forces without any provocation that i'm aware of). A corruption would be something along the lines of the alien communicating in a way that we cannot decipher (such as by emmitting a form of energy we can't measure), and so despite the mutual respect between the two, we cannot form a relationship with them and both parties spend the rest of their existence keeping out of one another's way.)
  9. Detained (Can you tell what i'm trying to do yet?)
  10. Granted, but it's so fine it works like a microfibre cloth. I wish to find intelligent, non-hostile alien life to be found.
  11. I still want to lock it. I want to win.
  12. Steam prices a game in USD, then prices differently in other currencies. For example, Russia gets significantly lower prices on games. When a game isn't region-locked to Russia, people in Russia can pay the equivalent of, say, $3 for the game that is $10 in USD. They can then sell that for the equivalent of $4 USD to a person who would otherwise have to pay $10USD (or more if they live in the UK, where it isn't uncommon to pay the equivalent of $12USD for a $10USD game). This leaves all the consumers happy - the Russian gets a slight profit, the person from the USA/UK gets a significant discount on their game and Valve gets exactly what they asked for. Arguably this is is unfair to VALVe, but I don't see a problem with it considering that unlike the other people in the equation, Valve makes millions of $USD from the games they run, so they can afford the slight loss (and since they are having people pay exactly what they're asking them to pay, they can also pass it off to the publishers/developers of the game as the game being sold in a less-developed place, so the big boys VALVe has to appease are happy. Thanks, VALVe!). The other way this can happen (for example, if the game is region-locked in less-wealthy countries to prevent this (for example, Russia, Africa and Asian copies are all region-locked and EU West, EU East and US copies are all unlocked (as these are some of the most wealthy places and places in which it is likely for prices to be set as above the USD 'baseline') is for there to be a significant Steam Sale. Let's say there's a Summe Sale and The Binding of Isaac and expansion pack were on a 90%-off sale for 24 hours. Many people would buy it, even if they already own a copy, as they know that after the sale wears off people will still want new copies of the game, perhaps because ttheir friend bought it on the sale and encouraged them to get it. They don't want to spend £5 on the game and another £4 on the expansion, they want it as cheap as their friend got it - 90% off! So they go find a trader who will give them the lot for 1 key and 4 Refined. This comes to about £1.50, about 80% off the original price. He buys the game and plays it with his friend. Both are happy, since they got a fun game for a very low price. The person that bought it at 90% off when they already owned it is happy, as they sold it for more than they paid for it. And thus ends Tweets' Guide To Why Buying With Keys Is Cheaper.
  13. At its most basic, the reason is "Geel wanted them to change". As for reasons he would do that, it's likely because the hatbots have had too few hats recently, so he's encouraging selling them and discouraging buying them until we have a morew even stock. Before, you could buy a hat quickly, but if selling one, you'd lose out a little, so many would just go sell it elsewhere. Now, you pay a scrap extra if you actually want the hat, or you look elsewhere. Hats come in at a regular price and go out to those that actually want the hat. I assume that pretty soon it'll be changed again to lower the price back again.
  14. It's metal held in the bots for the staff to use to process refunds. Only staff members can access it (and are only to access it to give to someone who needs a refund), but it shows up in the item count.
  15. The only guaranteed way to make a profit is to buy weapons here and sell them to players that don't know about scrap.tf or are too lazy to bother using it for 1 scrap. It has a very high profit margin - 100% profit with no chance of loss (you can sell the items back for the same price). However, it's very slow.
  16. Take it up with Valve. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't force users to email confirm trades through Steam. Valve on the other hand can. And are.
