Wireless Contact Transferring

I have no clue where my old phone is atm. I have many contacts and messages I hold dear, and I'd like to know if anyone here knows if its possible to transfer contact/ message data to a newer version? The old one is a basic Version phone (OLD old, like flip screen button old), and the new one is a Samsung Galaxy 7S. If it IS possible, do I still need to know where my original one is before transferring my info wirelessly?
