How do I create my own custom emoticon?

What do you mean? It isn't.

If you want to create your own emoticon you an use any image editing program and draw your emoticon, or you could try to rescale an existing image that you've already created.

Make sure to closely follow the guidelines, otherwise your emoticon will be rejected.

That's up to you. If you start out with a 32x32 blank canvas and paint the emoticon yourself (like I did with :happykitty:(basic) or katuen does with emoticons like :katuen:)

You can also try to crop down an image to 32x32, and you'll get something like :emptyengie:

You have to create a 32x32 image, how you do it is up to you.

There is no 1 way to do so. I just opened paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html), created a 32x32 canvas and started drawing with the pencil tool, that's how :happykitty: was made.

If you want one that clearly looks pixellated, you can follow any tutorial on "how to create pixel art", such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZawqggyANc8
