Trouble with the Authenticator.

I recently won an auction, and whilst attempting to turn in my bid, I got the notification that the trade required verification through the Authenticator.
The last time I used the Desktop (Not mobile, I don't have mobile) Authenticator, it closed down, or appeared to. 
Now when I try to open it, it says "Another instance of this app is already running", even though I can't access it. Windows Task Manager also doesn't see it, but trying to run it from there also has no effect.
If I can't confirm this, it'll be the second time an Authenticator problem prevented me from turning in my bid, and it will result in my second auction ban.

Please help.
