Inspect link on decorated weapons

Recommended Posts

I don’t know why this has not yet been implemented. Please add the inspect in-game link to items so that we can inspect them in-game before deciding to buy them. This used to be a thing in the skin-bots but for some reason it was removed. If the problem is that it won’t work on mobile devices because of the lack of TF2, you could just as easily have a link to the item in the bot’s steam inventory.

... you do realize this IS a thing in game right? Just before you buy something, load up TF2, hit Warpaints in the Items section, then select your stats. You can pick the weapon, paint, and quality.

That sometimes works for qualities like Factory New, but each skin has a unique pattern. For example, I’d much rather have a knife with a blood stained tip (sorry I’m e d g y) than one that’s just dulled.

Yes and no, that menu is just to preview a random generated skin/war paint, not to preview the specific one you want.

You are able to customize the item, paint, and quality. It just takes some time to do.

Yeah, it takes time, maybe too much time.

You'd have to look through the bot's inventory, find the paint, then hope you get the right one since Bots tend to have more than one instance of the same paint(s).

Or you choose the paint, get in queue, inspect it in-game and then cancel the offer if it doesn't have a pattern you're happy with.

So that's why Gnago suggested a direct link/button, like they used to have. So you click it and TF2 will open straight showing the specific paint, with its specific pattern and wear for you to decide to buy it or not.
