Should Server 1 be Repurposed?

I love the Scrap TF2 servers, and I also love the regular TF2 gameplay loop. But there's no denying that Scrap Server 1 is completely, undeniably dead. The only time it gets activity is when somebody makes a raffle on the site trying to have people join it, and maybe a private raffle for those who participate. But those are very far and few between.

Server 2, on the other hand, has been going strong. It gets 12+ players almost every day, and frequently its completely full during the evenings/nights.

To make more use of Server 1, I think it might be a good idea to change it so that it's just another hangout/chill server, or to make it custom game modes like the Scrap server a few years ago. The custom modes were always popular, and when it existed, it was the most active server of the TF2 servers.

As it stands, Server 1 is just always sitting at 0/24. People who want classic gameplay will just go to somewhere like Valve servers, Uncletopia, Skial, etc. What are your thoughts on changing Scrap's Server 1?

This is a sort of mini-project I've been thinking about myself lately, I've been wanting to revamp Server 1 to try and make it more active for a little while now, although I haven't begun taking any steps towards any of those changes yet for a few reasons. My original plan was to just rework the current server, keeping it stock TF2 gameplay but with some changes/additions to certain aspects of it. However it's highly likely that even with those changes implemented, without any form of advertising and such of the server section of the site, it would still unfortunately remain inactive since very few people outside of the already established Server 2 community actually knows that the site has TF2 servers, and even then they might still feel more inclined to go to Uncletopia or other casual-oriented servers.

There is also of course changing it to what Server 2 used to be and making it custom game modes like you mentioned, which would certainly be a welcome change in my eyes as I always enjoyed the custom modes, as did many others. However the same problems that lead to the original Server 2 being changed such as many conflicting plugins and what not could still be present, although I imagine with a bit of work we would be able to establish a working rotation of modes that don't conflict with each other.

I'm open to any feedback regarding what was mentioned above, however I would be all for Server 1 being worked on and getting some love for once

From memory, the least played (and also the most buggy) game mode was Stop That Tank! (STT). If the server had a makeover, then as long as it started with something well-liked such as Deathrun or Saxton Hale/FF2, I'm guessing it would be popular. Anything's better than the current state of the server.

I believe one of the primary bugs in STT was the building plugin from Zombie Fortress crossing over and only allowing level 1 buildings to be constructed. Most of the bugs were of a similar nature, and could likely just be fixed via removing any conflicting modes/plugins. Personally I quite enjoyed STT, and I believe it was one of the more picked modes behind things like VSH and DR, and ahead of Smash Bros and Zombie Fortress as mentioned previously. Unfortunately I believe if S1 were to be converted to custom modes, the lineup would have to be rather small, potentially indefinitely, as adding too many varying modes would likely lead to things conflicting again, and there aren't a huge deal of options to begin with. Although leading on from that, there was never a huge deal of variety in the mode rotation anyway, as people primarily stuck to the same small handful, so perhaps it wouldn't be too bad of an idea
