Spray Maker Site

Recommended Posts

So I learned that the create a spray site is shutting down due to the owner being unable to fund its costs. This is his reasoning.

But since he did release the open source files, I was distantly hoping there was a possibility of another site being created to keep this project alive.

Here is the Github to the open source files.

I hope this will work out, I really do.

I would love to continue operating something like this. However, that code is in ASP.NET, which (mostly) requires windows servers, which are more expensive than Linux.

Another problem is if I were to rewrite it the only library for editing VTF files is in C/C++, which is probably why that project is in ASP.NET.

I don't know anywhere near enough about image processing to write my own code for working with VTFs.

Maybe someone else could help me somehow.

It's look like not impossible in javascript I have found that https://www.npmjs.com/package/vtf It's the vtflib ported to asm.js with emscriten ( https://github.com/azuisleet/VTFLib ) The advantage is : it work on client or server side.

And the asm.js code it 10x more speedest than regular js and 2x more slower than a compiled code like c/c++.

Edit

I have tested the vtflib with vtfedit, so for creating an animated vtf put directly a gif doesn't work https://streamable.com/hud3

I have found a way for creating a gif with vtfedit, we just need to put all gifs frame separately( multiple .png or .tga for example ) https://streamable.com/qw4l

I have also looking the vtflib js package and ... no docs just an example with a simple png converted in .vtf

 bKg5wmo.png

Actually the only example given use a canvas for converting the img tag as a js usable datas, impossible to create an animated vtf in this way ...

I think it's possible to covert a gif ( or a video ) to an animate vtf but I don't really know how right now.

I have also no ideas to how creating a fading spray ...

Oh and I forgot http://www.wunderboy.org/docs/vtflib_docs/ ( the vtflib doc )
