Planning to use the Steam Desktop Authenticator. How exactly will it work?

Just like the title says.  I don't have a phone of my own, so I'm planning to use my mom's phone to grab the code or whatever.

So yeah, I'm just wondering a few more things:

 

1. How do I deactivate it in case something goes wrong (i.e. Computer is taken over by a virus that targets compooters, not Steam)

2. I don't always have access to my main PC (or rather family's) due to siblings.  Can I still trade if I have to use my toaster laptop?

3. If I get a new PC, how can I transfer confirmations and such over to my new one?

Must go on device to deactivate, you can use multiple devices as long as you have the confirmation code to long on, and you can transfer. HOWEVER DO NOT TAKE MY WORD, go research just to make sure.
