Developer purple horse Posted May 22, 2017 Developer Report Share Posted May 22, 2017 Well in 2012 I started working on a project to make my own trading bot. Back then There were a few around that only did scrap banking and there was little to no public information on how they worked and interfaced with Steam trading. Here's a video on my progress: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h79q8-tt_64 And after a few weeks I was able to finish a basic version of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9kKxLPjlxQ This was the start of the SteamBot project: https://github.com/Jessecar96/SteamBot which was the first open source steam trading bot. After the initial start I had almost no involvement in the SteamBot repo. At first I had no idea what to do with it so it sat for months until Geel came across it and made a scrap banking bot with it and posted it on Facepunch. After that we got together and decided to make a website for scrap banking to make it easier for everyone to trade with the bot, and to pick what weapons you wanted back. This is what the site looked like originally: https://feen.us/dp7t.png And after that we just kept expanding and improving until we got here today. Here's some more history on how scrap.tf grew: https://scrap.tf/fivehundredthousand Shiny Substitute, General Synnacle and Godisregn 3 Link to comment
