Furries and TF2

Recommended Posts

If you take a look at the mod, admin, affiliate and dev members, you can see huge amount of MLP fans, it kind of brands the site as one that does not hate any fandoms or groups, so people are more open in here, noone hides with things like this.

Yeah, plenty of bronies and furries. I just wonder why TF2 attracts such people.

It's not like it attracts them... us. Its just that we are more visible there, and more open with it. There is huge amount of Manga & Anime fans here as well, other groups are less visible, because they do not have such obvious avatars/names. Pony, furry or an Anime character on av is way more noticeable. Not to mention, all three of the groups are sociable among themselves, and like to group together, so game like this is really good for this.

Maybe it's because of the custom usercontent that allows the player to become their favorite pony/character or customize the weapon(s)/taunt(s) in a cartoonish way. Everyone is more open about themselves in the Internet, and because of that, everyone can say that they are [nameofthefandomtheybelonghere] without fearing anything and plus, TF2 is free to play soo.. It's a way to spend their time for free *shrugs*. It's hard to find rude people if you are not playing on the comp side.

It's a source engine FPS that's even more customizable than the others, and they are all pretty damn customizable. Beyond sprays and mods TF2 has cosmetics, name/desc tags and just a bunch of tools to customize stuff in general. If people for some reason truly wants their favorite class to have something in common with their favorite technicolour horse/their furry character, they have a lot of tools to do so I guess?

The bigger question is why does so many bronies seem to play scout, and so many furries seem to play pyro.

And why has noone made a furry and/or brony f2p mmo! ;D

They're making one right now.

At least as far as i'm aware it will be F2P.

Also it's really, really bad. The only thing of any appeal is flight, which you can get by loading up Google Earth or a flight simulator and flying around.

Fandoms tend to always be easy to spot when if you keep your eyes out for them, or just have reason to notice them. Just try to notice all the anime, or pokemon, profiles on steam. The furries and the bronies tend to stand out more due to them being more "different" then other fandoms, but don't really occupy a significant part of the tf2 community as a whole. As to why they are there at all is most likely just due to the nature of the internet.
