Now that sites such as scrap.tf have become so big, it is really hard to sell weapons for scrap metals on trade servers. It might be possible to sell them on pubs as a lot of inexperienced players that just gained premium don't yet know about sites like these. You currently have no tradable scrap metal though, you'll need some tradable ones in order to sell them.

He can't sell them as they are untradable. Gift wraps currently don't work, I think they were used to exploit steam's escrow system.

If you have unique killstreakified variants they could be useful.
