There's no other guaranteed lossless, consistent way (random drops are inconsistent, all other trading-for-profit methods involve some kind of risk), so it's popular as the safe method and a starter method.

We're entering the Archimedes Cup and we need you. We have just about enuogh to cover a full team right now, but we want to ensure we have enough people to cover all the roles and handle any hiccups that come up. Unfortunately we can't just have everyone, so this is an application thread. You'll get invited to the team by me if you're accepted. Sorry if you don't get in, as we can't have everyone. Before the first match, we'll be running a few practise games to make sure everyone is comfortable with what they're doing, and we'll be discussing soem strategies and other things like that. Requirements: Be free from 7-10pm CET (6-9pm GMT) at a minimum (Ideally free for an hour beforehand to prepare) on 11/1/15, 18/1/15 and 20/1/15, as well as all day on 25/1/15. Vaguely understand how to play TF2. Have a mic Have Mumble Be willing to come to practice games. Valve's already been paid for the game (when the Gift was bought), so it's hardly "a scam to valve from scrap.tf". As for the game itself, it currently is 50% off in the Steam sale, making it at £3.49 ($5.50). This is about 3.5 keys (1 key on the 'gray market' is £1.05). Therefore, on a normal day, you can pay 7 key's-worth for the game through the Store, or you can pay almost 1/4 of the price here. I don't see what the issue is here. We make profit on the game (we buy it a little below what we sell it at), you buy it way below what you would pay to Valve, and Valve gets some profit on the sale originally, so everyone wins.The end user (you) more than anyone else (Valve makes a small profit due to it usually being people who can get the game cheaper buying it and circulating it and we make a small profit just on thevendoring of the game, you make a 'profit' of the savings you make - nearly 6 keys is saved on the game when it is not on sale).

It didn't fix anything, but it sure made up for it - a few new weapons, some balance changes, some good-looking Festives, some decent cosmetics and the most amazing gamemode so far.
